I don’t know about your family, but mine have never cared for regular Alfredo Sauce in a can. So needless to say we never ate anything with the word Alfredo in it. But one week I was desperate! I had racked my brain half the day creating meals for that week and finally I gave in and decided hell with it I’ll buy a few ingredients and try to put together some sort of Alfredo sauce together myself one night! I spent a little time patching different versions of recipes I found online together and came up with a pretty good sauce (after a few minor mishaps). And let me tell you my friends, my last resort meal turned into one of our family favorites! We have Chicken Alfredo at least 3-4 times a month now!

Ok, so first thing I do it hit up my local Kroger and buy the following ingredients:
1 (12 oz) Box of Fettuccine Egg Noodles ($1.00)
1/2 cup or 1 stick of butter (Blue Bonnet is usually $1.00 for 6 sticks!)
2 Cups heavy cream (Kroger Brand is cheaper – usually around $3)
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
a pinch of salt
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (this is your most expensive ingredient – typically $5.00)
2 teaspoons of garlic (I bought the already minced in a can – ranges depending on brand about $3.00 for jar)
2-3 cups cooked cubed chicken ($6.00)
Break your noodles in half over kettle. Fill with water about 3 inches covering noodles. Place on stove top over high heat and cook thoroughly. I usually put these on and then go about preparing the rest of the meal – the timing usually works out to be perfect. Next you will want to cook your cubed chicken breast. Of course freshly grilled chicken breast would be the ideal ingredient here but if your pressed for time, just buy a bag of the pre-cooked kind. Kroger has a great brand for a low price. I measure out my 2 cups and fry it up in a separate skillet and set the chicken aside. Now it is time to make the most important ingredient, the Alfredo Sauce!! First you will melt the butter in a sauce pan over med/low heat. We will then add the pepper, salt, cream and garlic and bring the mix to a simmer. Add the Parmesan cheese and continue to simmer for about 7 minutes or until the sauce is thick. By now your noodles are most likely done, so strain them in the sink and add to the sauce pan with your Alfredo sauce and add your chicken to this pan as well. Mix everything together and serve with dinner rolls or garlic bread.
Total Meal Time Including Prep: Roughly 30 minutes
