Today Baby girl and I went on our weekly shopping trip to Krogers. Every week I try to pick out one new food that she hasn’t tried yet and this week we stumbled upon Brussel sprouts. I know what everyone is thinking, why would I make my sweet babe eat those lol! But hey, I want her to decide on her OWN what she does and doesn’t like. As long as it’s healthy, we’re gonna try it out 😉
We purchased a bag of frozen organic brussel sprouts for like $3.49! Not bad at all, plus I can make at least 2-3 meals out of that one bag, amazing!
These little guys are very easy to cook up as well. I just pulled out 4 brussel sprouts and put them in a little stove top pot and added water. I let them cook for about 15 minutes or until tender. You’ll want to drain your water off and add a small teaspoon of butter to the pot right away so as the butter melts properly. Next you simply cut them into bite size pieces & bam there’s dinner!
The health benefits
These little dudes are rich in vitamins B6,B1,C and vitamin K! Not only that but they are great sources of dietary fiber, magnesium and potassium!
Of course I have to fill you all in about how baby girl felt about her brussel sprouts, and she actually really liked them. At first, she scrunched up her face a little and spit the first one out lol! I thought oh jeesh here we go she isn’t going to like these, but she picked up another and ate it. And then she picked up another piece and ate that one and screamed a little with delight. She smashed the whole bowl I had made for her!! I even tried a little bite and they honestly weren’t as bad as what I have heard. They were pretty tasty! I can say we have added another veggie to our list of foods we love:) speaking of loved foods, I think that might be a good article to have soon 🙂 so stayed tuned for more!
